SINGAPORE – StarHub’s Premier Pack customers who are subscribed to the basic tier, entertainment pass, as well as cross-carriage customers, will see their monthly subscription rise by $3.79 to $69.90 from Nov 1.
Currently, the package, which offers live broadcast of English Premier League (EPL) matches, costs $66.11 per month.
The telco took over the EPL broadcast rights from Singtel TV in 2022 and the plan then for existing customers had cost $24.99 a month and $39.99 for new subscribers.
When the goods and services tax increased to 9 per cent, these prices were adjusted to $25.46 for existing customers and $40.74 for new subscribers. These were the only price increases since 2022.
Responding to queries from The Straits Times, a StarHub spokesperson said in a statement: “The adjustment applies only to a small number of legacy Premier Pack customers on our older IPTV platform, which has seen rising costs associated with content delivery and maintenance.
“We have held prices steady since 2022, absorbing these costs where possible, but the adjustment is now necessary to ensure uninterrupted access to Premier League broadcasts. The vast majority of our customers are already enjoying the better value and flexibility of StarHub TV+, which offers enhanced features such as Watch Party, Dolby Atmos for live games, and more innovations to come.”
