The Singapore Sports Council (SSC) has appointed Spectrum Worldwide as the event organiser for the Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore, following a tender process that started in March.
The company will take full responsibility of organising Singapore's marquee running event from this year's edition through to 2016, managing all aspects of the race.
The SSC will continue to be event owner and maintain strategic oversight, providing a grant in the initial years. A total of three companies - Spectrum Worldwide, HiVelocity and Enterprise Sport Group - put in a bid to be event organiser. Said SSC's chief of strategic development and marketing group and vice-chairman of the race organising committee Toh Boon Yi: "We assessed three proposals thoroughly and Spectrum's comprehensive approach and long term ideas for SCMS have impressed us."
Spectrum Worldwide has experience in organising the SCMS, being involved with past editions. It is also the event owner and organiser of the OCBC Cycle Singapore. This year's SCMS will take place on Dec 1. More than 34,000 runners have registered for the event so far.
