Zachary lowers U-14 400m IM record
DANANG (Vietnam) • Singapore swimmer Zachary Ian Tan lowered the national Under-14 400m individual medley record yesterday at the SEA Age Group Swimming Championships.
He clocked 4min 44.80sec to take silver, going under the previous mark of 4:45.66.
The girls' 4x100m freestyle team comprising Christie Chue, Chan Zi Yi, Cherlyn Yeoh and Hoong En Qi also lowered the U-17 mark of 3:54.66 when they won in 3.54.33.
S'pore beat Aussies in women's floorball
TAMPERE (Finland) • Singapore got off to a positive start in the Women's World Floorball Championship, edging out Australia 5-4 in their Group C opener.
Ong Hui Hui put them 2-0 up in the first period before the Aussies stormed back to lead 4-3 after the second period. But goals by Natalia Wee and Joscelin Kee gave the SEA Games champions full points.
Lin takes lead in Ho Tram Open
HO TRAM (Vietnam) • Overnight leader Lin Wen- tang of Chinese Taipei carded a three-under 68 to total 13-under 200 for a two-shot lead over Spaniard Sergio Garcia (68) and Shaun Norris (65) of South Africa, after the third round of golf's US$1.5 million (S$2.1 million) Ho Tram Open yesterday.
Phelps on track for Olympic comeback
SEATTLE (Washington) • Michael Phelps' Olympic comeback bid gained more steam on Friday as he won his second race in as many days at the US Winter Nationals.
The 18-time Olympic gold medallist clocked 51.38sec to win the 100m butterfly. On Thursday, he won the 200m individual medley.

Dusautoir retires from int'l rugby
PARIS • France captain Thierry Dusautoir, a tireless flanker known for his fiery tackling and deft ball-handling, has retired from international rugby.
Dusautoir, who made his Test debut in 2006 and played 80 internationals before making his last appearance against rivals New Zealand in the 2015 World Cup quarter-finals, made his decision after discussions with France coach Guy Noves.
