Suarez and Alba keep Barca's unbeaten run

MADRID • Luis Suarez and Jordi Alba were on target as Barcelona saw off 10-man Eibar 2-0 in LaLiga on Saturday.

Barca are still unbeaten after 24 league games this season, and have now gone 31 LaLiga matches undefeated in total to match their record run under Pep Guardiola in 2010-11.

They were provisionally 10 points clear at the top, with Atletico Madrid looking to close the gap when they hosted Athletic Bilbao this morning (Singapore time).

SA Stormers win Super Rugby opener

CAPE TOWN • Wing Raymond Rhule scored a try on his debut as South Africa's Stormers secured a 28-20 victory over the Jaguares from Argentina in the opening game of the Super Rugby season at Newlands on Saturday.

At Ellis Park, centre Lionel Mapoe scored a brace of tries as the Lions claimed a 26-19 win over the Sharks in a fierce South African derby.

Six players inducted into Hall of Fame

LOS ANGELES • Two-time National Basketball Association (NBA) Most Valuable Player Steve Nash, 10-time NBA All-Star Jason Kidd, and two-time NBA champion Ray Allen are among six first-time finalists for the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

The Hall of Fame's Class of 2018 will be announced on March 31 during the NCAA Final Four in San Antonio. The class will be enshrined in early September.

World champ Pearson set for indoor Worlds

GOLD COAST (Australia) • World hurdles champion Sally Pearson says she will head to the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Birmingham after qualifying for the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games at the trials.

The 2012 Olympic champion claimed her ninth Australian 100m hurdles crown on Saturday in a dramatic finish at the Australian Games selection trials on the Gold Coast.

She shook off the disruption of a false start to equal the record number of national titles set by Pam Ryan in a season best time of 12.73 seconds.
