S'pore U-15 girls out after losing to Philippines

VIENTIANE • Singapore bowed out of the inaugural Asean Football Federation Under-15 Girls' Championship after losing 0-3 to the Philippines in their final Group B match yesterday.

Singapore ended their campaign with one win and two losses and failed to go through to the semi-finals, while the Philippines finished on top of the group, having won all three of their group matches.

Young Lions end run of defeats with 0-0 draw

The Garena Young Lions earned their first point of the S-League season after a sequence of seven defeats, as they drew 0-0 with Brunei DPMM at the Jalan Besar Stadium last night.

Despite the point, the Young Lions remain rooted at the bottom of the league table, with DPMM one spot above them with four points.

LA showcases Olympic bid with 'no major risks'

Los Angeles 2024 made a final pitch to the International Olympic Committee's evaluation commission on Friday for the right to host the Summer Games for a third time.

Paris, the only other city in the running, will get a chance to showcase its bid next week but LA threw down the gauntlet to the French capital with a plan that commission leader Patrick Baumann said had "no major risks".
