All three local football games - both first legs of the Singapore Cup semi-finals and one in the S-League - last night were delayed and then postponed till further notice owing to the haze, after the three-hour Pollutant Standards Index stood at 176 at 9pm.


Old hand Grosjean joins new US Haas F1 team

WASHINGTON • French driver Romain Grosjean was named on Tuesday as the new driver for the Haas F1 Team who will enter Formula One next year.

The American-led F1 entry has an experienced driver as 29-year-old Grosjean, with 10 podiums in 78 F1 races, announced his departure from Lotus at the team's North Carolina headquarters.

Windies blown out of Champions Trophy

LONDON • The declining fortunes of West Indies cricket hit a new low yesterday, when the team failed to qualify for the 2017 Champions Trophy in England.

Restricted to the world's top eight sides, the West Indies missed out on the lucrative event after slumping to ninth place by the cut-off.
