Slingers, StarHub in 3-year TV deal

The Singapore Slingers and StarHub announced yesterday a three-year deal that will see the local telco become the professional basketball team's official broadcast partner.

The agreement begins with the upcoming 2016-17 Asean Basketball League (ABL) season on Nov 25, with the Slingers facing defending champions Westports Malaysia Dragons at the OCBC Arena in a re-match of last season's ABL finals.

All of the Slingers' ABL matches will be shown live on StarHub TV Ch112/205 or tuning to the 76.25MHz frequency for non-StarHub TV customers.

U-15 tournament to feature eight teams

Eight young football teams will feature in the inaugural International Challenge Cup Under-15 football tournament next Monday.

The seven-day competition, organised by the Football Association of Singapore, will see five teams from Japan, Vietnam, Australia, Malaysia and the Philippines, and three local teams take part.

The preliminary round matches will take place at the Singapore Sports School, while the semi-finals (Nov 26) and final (Nov 27) will be held at Jalan Besar Stadium.

This weekend, the Singapore 9s Masters event, featuring former national footballers Rafi Ali and Quek Hock Tiong, will also take place at the Jalan Besar Stadium.

Carrick not giving up on EPL title chase

LONDON • Manchester United have not given up on their Premier League title hopes yet, despite dropping eight points behind leaders Liverpool, midfielder Michael Carrick has said.

"We want to be at the top challenging. We've had some ups and downs but we've got too much quality and too much of a good team to give up on anything," the footballer told Sky Sports.


Fan files complaint against Rossi

MADRID • A motorcycling fan has filed a complaint against nine-time world champion Valentino Rossi, claiming the Italian assaulted her.

The incident took place in the paddock at the Valencia Motorcycling GP last weekend, where Rossi is alleged to have stumbled into the fan and then elbowed and kicked her as he tried to make his way through crowds.
