Shuttler Chen falls to Korean in s-final

TAIPEI • National shuttler Chen Jiayuan lost to South Korea's Lee Jang Mi in yesterday's semi-final in the Chinese Taipei Grand Prix.

The second-seeded Singaporean lost to her unseeded opponent 21-12, 14-21, 14-21.

Lee will meet her compatriot and top seed Kim Hyo Min in today's final.


Former Toffees boss Kendall dies at 69

LONDON • Former Everton player and managerial great Howard Kendall has died at the age of 69.

He played for the English football club as a midfielder in the 1970s. He had three spells as manager at Goodison Park, including a six-year stint in the 1980s that was the most successful period in the club's history.

Brunei DPMM still in top position after draw

Brunei DPMM retained top spot in the S-League after a 4-4 draw with Home United, who lie sixth, at Bandar Seri Begawan last night.

In another match ,Tampines Rovers beat Hougang United 1-0 at the Jurong West Stadium to climb to third, from fifth, in the 10-team table. Hougang remain ninth.
