Russian enters IOC athletes' commission
RIO DE JANEIRO • Two- time Olympic pole vault champion Yelena Isinbayeva was officially welcomed into the International Olympic Committee (IOC) athletes' commission on Sunday, even though 23 of the 70 members had voted against her.
The Russian world record holder was one of four new members voted onto the commission to serve an eight-year term.

FAS to hold trials for U-14 girls' team
The Football Association of Singapore will be holding another round of selection trials for next year's Under-14 Girls' National Team on Sept 7 and 9 from 5-7pm at Serangoon Stadium.
The final selection will represent Singapore at the AFC U-14 Girls' Regional Championship next June.
Girls must be Singapore citizens born between Jan 1, 2003 and Dec 31, 2005 to be eligible for the trials.
Hart will be in my squad: Allardyce
LONDON • England manager Sam Allardyce has confirmed that Joe Hart will "definitely" be in his first squad when it is announced on Sunday.
The goalkeeper has been told he can leave English football club Manchester City either on loan or permanently by manager Pep Guardiola.
Willy Caballero has started all of City's matches so far this season and Barcelona's Claudio Bravo is on the verge of completing a switch to the Etihad Stadium.

Serena, Kerber make cut for WTA Finals
The world's top two female tennis players, Serena Williams of the United States and German Angelique Kerber, have qualified for the season-ending WTA Finals Singapore. The tournament, presented by SC Global, will be held from Oct 23-30 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
