Record alert as Hulk signs for Shanghai SIPG
SHANGHAI • Noted Brazilian footballer Hulk likely broke the Asian transfer record of €50 million (S$74.8 million), paid by Jiangsu Suning for Shakhtar Donetsk's Alex Teixeira earlier this year, after signing for Chinese side Shanghai SIPG for a reported €55 million yesterday.
The 29-year-old joined the the cash-rich Chinese Super League team from Russia's Zenit St Petersburg.
S. Korea to co-operate with CAS on Park appeal
SEOUL • South Korea's Olympic committee said yesterday that it would fully co-operate with the Court of Arbitration for Sport after swim star Park Tae Hwan appealed against his Rio ban over doping.
But a spokesman declined to say whether the committee would abide by any CAS ruling on Park's case - the multiple Olympic medallist has sought "an urgent ruling" from the CAS by next Friday - the deadline for South Korea to select their Rio swimming team.

Czech manager Vrba signs Russia club deal
PRAGUE • Czech national team manager Pavel Vrba has quit the job and signed a contract with Russian Premier League football club Anzhi Makhachkala.
The Czech team suffered two defeats and drew once at the group stage of Euro 2016 before being eliminated.

Perez silent on prospect of switch to Ferrari
SPIELBERG (AUSTRIA) • Force India driver Sergio Perez of Mexico refused to rule out a move to Ferrari yesterday, even though he denied any contact with the Italian Formula One team and said the rumours about his future reflected his form.
The Mexican has been on the podium twice in the last three races and was a member of Ferrari's driver academy before his Formula One debut in 2011 with Ferrari-powered Sauber.
