Pri Sch Girls Football C'ship swells to 13 teams

This year's Primary Schools Junior Girls Football Championship will see four first-time participants Fuhua Primary, Jurong West Primary, Lianhua Primary and Ngee Ann Primary bring the total to 13.

Organised by the Singapore Primary Schools Sports Council and the Football Association of Singapore, the tournament will take place from Feb 26 to April 11. There were nine teams last year.

Patrick ends Nascar career with Daytona crash

DAYTONA BEACH (Florida) • American Danica Patrick crashed out of the Daytona 500 on Sunday, putting a damper on the final event of her Nascar racing career. She finished 35th in the 200-lap race at the Daytona International Speedway.

Patrick, 35,was involved in a collision on lap 102 with Chase Elliott, Kevin Harvick, Kasey Kahne and Brad Keselowski.


Paedophile football coach Bennell gets 30 years' jail

LIVERPOOL • Disgraced former British football trainer Barry Bennell, 64, was sentenced to 30 years in prison yesterday for abusing 12 boys he coached between 1979 and 1991.

"You were the devil incarnate. You stole their childhoods and their innocence to satisfy your own perversion," Judge Clement Goldstone said as he read out the sentence in a court in Liverpool.
