LONDON • Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina will likely be given the nod to play in Sunday's League Cup final against Manchester City, says first-choice Czech custodian Petr Cech.

The Colombian has played in all but one of Arsenal's League Cup matches this campaign and is also expected to start tonight's Europa League last-32, second leg against Ostersunds.

However, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has revealed Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey will miss the game, with the latter a doubt for the Wembley showpiece.


Top Malaysian goalie Chow dies of cancer

KUALA LUMPUR • Former Malaysia international goalkeeper Chow Chee Keong has died at the age of 69 following a battle with bladder cancer.

Arguably one the country's best 'keepers, he won the Asian Football Confederation best goalkeeper award from 1966 to 1970.

He had a storied professional career in Hong Kong, spending over a decade with clubs including South China, Tung Sing and HK Rangers.


Renault seeks faster drive with R.S.18

PARIS • Renault will look to build on last year's sixth-placed finish in the Formula One constructors' championship after launching their new car, the R.S.18, on Tuesday ahead of the new season.

"The car is a progression and refinement of the concepts developed during the 2017 season. It includes an improved suspension concept and greater aerodynamic downforce," the French manufacturer said in a statement.

The latest model retains its black and yellow colour scheme and includes the mandatory cockpit halo - which will make its full competitive debut at the Australian Grand Prix next month - that aims to protect the drivers.


Froome may miss races if case drags on

LONDON • Chris Froome may run the risk of missing out on the world road race championships at Innsbruck, Austria in September if his doping case drags on without a resolution, says Britain cycling performance director Stephen Parks .

When asked, he replied: "We've then got to look at making sure we've got the right make-up of the team before we start to decide who the people are we'd like to see in there, and whether they are eligible or not."

Froome's adverse analytical finding for the asthma drug salbutamol dates back to September during the Vuelta a Espana.


#MeToo claims against ex-Mavs CEO

DALLAS • Former Dallas Mavericks chief executive officer Terdema Ussery has been accused by multiple women of sexual harassment during his tenure.

He was said to have made untoward advances during his time with the basketball team from 1997-2015 in a Sports Illustrated report on Tuesday.

Mavs owner Mark Cuban responded to the allegations by firing human resources director Buddy Pittman and writer Earl Sneed.
