Old Trafford move for Stoke 'keeper Grant

LONDON • Manchester United have signed goalkeeper Lee Grant from Stoke City for an undisclosed fee, the Premier League football side said on Tuesday.

British media reported that the transfer was worth around £1.5 million (S$2.7 million). Grant, 35, joined Stoke City in the 2016-17 season, making 31 league appearances with regular 'keeper Jack Butland injured. However, he played just three league games last campaign.

Grant will be a back-up to goalkeepers David de Gea and Sergio Romero at United.

LONDON • Eric Boullier's disastrous tenure as racing director of former Formula One giants McLaren ended yesterday as he resigned with immediate effect just days before the British Grand Prix.

The 44-year-old Frenchman joined the team in 2014 and oversaw successive years of disappointment with Honda and Renault engines as the once dominant unit experienced the worst run in their 52-year history. McLaren are sixth in the standings after nine races.
