Meyer ends stint with Boks after four years

JOHANNESBURG • Heyneke Meyer is to step down as Springboks coach, the South African Rugby Union (Saru) announced in a statement yesterday.

The announcement comes a day before a meeting - where a top agenda item to be discussed by the executive council was the position of Springbok coach.

Meyer, 48, won 34 times and drew twice in 50 matches since his appointment in January 2012. He led the team to third place at the recent World Cup in England.
