Mardan makes the cut easily with eagle

NEW DELHI • Singapore's top golfer Mardan Mamat made the cut at the Indian Open by three shots, after a fine second-round 69 for a three-under 141 total and joint-30th spot.

He did not suffer a single bogey in the second round, enjoying a eagle on the opening hole and a birdie at the 11th, to trail halfway leader Terry Pilkadaris (64) of Australia by 10 strokes.


Incheon tournament back on Asian Tour

SEOUL • The Shinhan Donghae Open has been added to the Asian Tour schedule, following a new co-sanctioning agreement with the Korean PGA that was announced yesterday.

It last featured on the Asian Tour in 2002 and it will be co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour and Korean PGA. The 1.2 billion won (S$1.4 million) event will be staged in Incheon from Sept 29 to Oct 2.


Albirex beaten but stay top of S-League

Warriors FC ended the unbeaten run of S-League football leaders Albirex Niigata with a 2-0 win at Jalan Besar last night.

Syaqir Sulaiman and Jonathan Behe scored but Albirex still lead Brunei DPMM and Warriors on goal difference.


Fed's knee okay, he will return in Miami

LOS ANGELES • Tennis' world No. 3 Roger Federer has indicated via Twitter that he will return from knee surgery at the Miami Open next week.

The 17-time Grand Slam champion, who has not played since January's Australian Open, had said three weeks ago via Facebook that he planned to delay his comeback until the Monte Carlo Masters next month.
