Kim eclipses record in 31-under victory
LOS ANGELES • South Korean Kim Sei-young fired a final-round seven-under 65 to smash the LPGA 72-hole scoring record on Sunday, winning the Thornberry Creek LPGA Classic with a stunning 31-under total of 257.
Her total broke the LPGA's 72-hole record in relation to par of 27-under, first set by Swedish golfer Annika Sorenstam in 2001 and matched by Kim at the 2016 Founders Cup in Phoenix.
Paulinho, Guangzhou reunited in loan deal
PARIS • Barcelona have loaned midfielder Paulinho, a starter in the Brazil side knocked out by Belgium in the World Cup quarter-finals, to his former football club Guangzhou Evergrande, the Chinese Super League champions announced on Sunday.
Paulinho, who is 29, first joined Guangzhou from Tottenham Hotspur in 2015, playing 84 matches and scoring 22 goals before leaving for Barcelona last year. He scored nine goals in 34 LaLiga appearances for the Catalan giants last season.
Durant signs new deal with Warriors
SAN FRANCISCO • Two-time National Basketball Association Finals Most Valuable Player Kevin Durant has signed a new contract to remain with the Golden State Warriors, who seek a fourth title in five campaigns next season.
While the team did not disclose details of the new deal, the San Jose Mercury News, New York Times and ESPN reported the deal would earn Durant about US$30 million (S$40.6 million) next season and a player option for the 2019-20 season at around US$31 million.
Rugby Sevens tickets on sale in October
Tickets for next year's HSBC Singapore Rugby Sevens go on sale in October, with the fourth edition of the event taking place at the National Stadium on April 13 and 14.
Early-bird prices are available in October and public sales start in December. The tournament has seen more than 140,000 fans in attendance over the last three years.
In addition to featuring the world's top 16 men's rugby sevens teams, a series of lifestyle and community events will also take place before and during the tournament.
