Jacqueline overall Faldo Series champ
National golfer Jacqueline Young was crowned overall winner of the Faldo Series Singapore Championship yesterday after the third and final round was cancelled due to haze.
The 16-year-old finished with rounds of 75 and 76 for a seven-over total of 151 at the Raffles Country Club's Palm Course. Andre Chong was one shot back in second.
U-21 women's hockey team lose heavily
CHANGZHOU (China) • Singapore's Under-21 women's hockey team fell 0-7 to hosts China in the Women's Junior Asia Cup yesterday.
The Republic, who lie fifth in Pool A, also lost 0-4 to North Korea on Tuesday.
They will meet Chinese Taipei, who are fourth in Pool B, tomorrow.
Prince Ali joins race for Fifa presidency
AMMAN • Prince Ali Hussein of Jordan is back in the race to be elected Fifa president, having declared his candidacy on Wednesday four months after losing May's vote to Sepp Blatter.
The 39-year-old announced in the Jordanian capital that he would run again for the top job at world football's governing body.

Fifa to probe jeering by fans
HONG KONG • Fifa said yesterday that it is investigating an incident where Hong Kong fans jeered the Chinese national anthem before a World Cup qualifier.
Fans in the southern Chinese city booed the "March of the Volunteers" - the anthem which they share with China before their home match with Qatar which they lost 2-3 on Tuesday.

Britain's parliament is set to ask him to explain his comments that recent media reports on doping were a "declaration of war" on the sport, according to the BBC.
