Hougang surprise Home to go fifth

High-flying Home United lost 2-3 to Hougang United in the S-League last night at the Jalan Besar Stadium, as forward Fareez Farhan's 84th-minute winner gave the Cheetahs three points.

Winger Nazrul Nazari had a brace (33rd and 41st) before strikers Stipe Plazibat (37th) and Khairul Nizam (50th) equalised for Home, who remain third on 26 points, five behind leaders Albirex Niigata. Hougang are fifth on 16.


S'pore shuttlers fail to enter s-finals

Singapore mixed doubles second seeds Terry Hee and Tan Wei Han were edged out by South Koreans Seo Seung Jae and Kim Ha Na 21-18, 18-21, 21-18 in the quarter-finals of badminton's Chinese Taipei Open yesterday.

Compatriots Danny Bawa Chrisnanta and Crystal Wong lost 11-21, 16-21 to local third seeds Wang Chi-lin and Lee Chia-hsin.


Local paddlers crash out in team q-finals

All four Singapore sides exited the Asian Junior and Cadet Table Tennis Championships in Asan, South Korea in the quarter-finals yesterday.

The junior boys' (under-18) and cadet girls' (under-15) teams were whitewashed 3-0 by China and South Korea respectively, while the cadet boys lost 1-3 to the hosts. The junior girls put up a strong fight, leading 2-0 through Nicole Lew and Zhang Wanling before Hong Kong recovered to win 3-2.
