Hougang first up for Albirex in S'pore Cup

Albirex Niigata will start their defence of the July 25-Oct 6 RHB Singapore Cup against Hougang United in the first round after the draw was held yesterday at the OCBC Square at the Singapore Sports Hub.

The Cup will feature eight Singapore Premier League clubs, excluding the Young Lions. Other ties for the home-and-away first-round ties include Geylang International v Balestier Khalsa, Brunei DPMM v Warriors FC and Home United v Tampines Rovers.

Albirex Niigata extended their lead at the top of the Singapore Premier League to 17 points over second-placed Tampines Rovers after a 3-0 win over Geylang International at Bedok Stadium yesterday.

In another match, Hougang United drew 1-1 with Brunei DPMM at Hougang Stadium. Tampines, who have two games in hand over Albirex, host Home United at Our Tampines Hub tomorrow.

Casey equals career best to move clear

LOS ANGELES • Paul Casey matched his lowest score on the PGA Tour, an eight-under 62 for a four-stroke lead after the third round of the PGA Travelers Championship on Saturday.

The Englishman posted a 16-under 194 total. American Russell Henley shot 67 to move into second place on 12 under, as his compatriot and halfway leader Brian Harman (69) slipped back into a tie for third at 11 under.
