GP2 to become F2 in Liberty rebranding

LONDON • Formula One's new owner Liberty Media and the sport's governing International Automobile Federation (FIA) are set to rebrand the GP2 support series as Formula Two, according to FIA president Jean Todt.

The Frenchman said the aim was to complete a pyramid structure leading from karting through Formula Four, Three and Two to F1.

Mayweather disses McGregor over bout

LOS ANGELES• Floyd Mayweather taunted Conor McGregor over his failure to agree terms on their potential superfight on Tuesday, insisting once more that he was ready to climb into a ring with the mixed martial arts star.

In an interview with ESPN, Mayweather accused the Irishman of stalling on a deal and insisted that he should "sign the paper and make it happen".

Swiss behind Sion's 2026 Olympic dream

BERN• The Swiss Olympic Association's executive board has voted to back Sion's bid to host the 2026 Winter Olympics, officials said.

The decision still has to be ratified next month by the 86 Swiss Olympic sports federations, the so-called sport parliament, and could face a referendum before it is officially presented to the International Olympic Committee.
