Fiji second in Rugby 7s standings after win

Fiji exploded for 19 unanswered points in the second half to race away to a 31-12 victory over Kenya on Sunday in the final of the World Rugby Sevens Series in Vancouver, Canada.

The Pacific Island nation became the first team to notch two tournament titles this term, leapfrogging New Zealand to move from third to second in the series standings, eight points behind South Africa on 109. New Zealand are third on 92.

The series now heads to Hong Kong for the seventh round from April 6 to 8, before the April 28-29 Singapore leg at the National Stadium.

Knee injury could end Sigurdsson's season

LONDON • Everton midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson has suffered a knee injury which may rule him out of the rest of the English Premier League season and jeopardise his chances of featuring in Iceland's first World Cup in Russia.

He played the full 90 minutes of the 2-0 win over Brighton at Goodison Park on Saturday but it has emerged that he may have damaged ligaments.

His brother Olafur Mar Sigurdsson told the Icelandic media that the joint of the player's right knee is damaged.

"It is anticipated the 28-year-old Icelandic international could be sidelined for several weeks but it will only be after consulting with the specialist that a definitive time frame will be known," said a statement from Everton.
