Ceremony welcomes new committee

The Singapore Wushu Dragon and Lion Dance Federation held an installation dinner yesterday at the Braddell Heights Community Club to mark the election of its new management committee.

Mr Sitoh Yih Pin, who is also MP for Potong Pasir, takes over the helm of the association from Mr Liang Eng Hwa (MP, Holland-Bukit Timah GRC).

Mr Seah Kian Peng (Marine Parade), Mr Ong Teng Koon (Marsiling-Yew Tee) were re-elected as vice-presidents, while Mr Yee Chia Hsing (Chua Chu Kang GRC) was also elected vice-president.

Reasons cited for Tokyo cost blowout

TOKYO • Poor supervision and a lack of clear authority explain why costs for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics have soared to more than four times original estimates, the head of a Tokyo panel tasked with slashing expenses said yesterday.

Costs are projected to hit 3 trillion yen (S$39.9 billion), four times the initial estimates. On Tuesday, the Tokyo review panel proposed changes that could cut as much as 50 billion yen from the total bill.
