Bowler Lim second in Indonesia Open

JAKARTA • Bowler Bernice Lim lost to Indonesia's Nadia Pramanik in the Women's Open step-ladder final at the 13th Indonesia Open Bowling Championships yesterday.

The Singaporean missed out on gold by a mere 17 pinfalls, with a total score of 443, compared to her opponent's 460. Compatriots Tay Hui Wen finished 12th in the same event and Suresh Elangovan was ninth in the men's step-ladder.


S'pore are best-ever fourth in Nomura Cup

ABU DHABI • Singapore's national amateur men's golf team achieved their best-ever finish in the Nomura Cup when they took fourth spot.

The quarter of Gregory Foo, Abdul Hadi, James Leow and Joshua Ho combined for a score of 849 at the Yas Links Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates yesterday.

Japan (842) were crowned champions after edging out Chinese Taipei (842) on countback and South Korea (848) completed the podium.

The Republic's previous best showing was at the last edition two years ago in Thailand where they were joint sixth.


Bayern earn perfect 10 with 1,000th match win

BERLIN • Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben sparkled on his comeback from injury after almost two months, scoring the champions' first goal in a 4-0 demolition of Cologne on Saturday.

It extended Bayern's record run to 10 Bundesliga wins in a row since the start of the season. It was also their 1,000th victory in the Bundesliga overall.

Rose blooms in HK and may rise to No. 5

HONG KONG • World No. 7 Justin Rose defeated Denmark's Lucas Bjerregaard by one stroke to triumph at the Hong Kong Open yesterday.

Former US Open winner Rose carded a two-under 68 to finish in 17-under 263, which could see him bumped up to fifth in the world rankings. A double bogey at the 14th for Bjerregaard (69) derailed his challenge.

Pac-Man's final fight set for April 9

LOS ANGELES • Philippine boxing legend Manny Pacquiao plans to end his ring career with a fight on April 9 before moving on to focus on his political career, promoter Bob Arum has told ESPN.com.

Arum said he had discussed plans for a final fight with Pacquiao last week in New York - where Pacquiao received the Asia Game Changer award presented by the Asia Society at the United Nations.
