Albirex make it 2 wins out of 2 with 5-0 rout

Defending S-League champions Albirex Niigata thrashed the Garena Young Lions 5-0 to make it two wins out of two, with goals from Tsubasa Sano (16th and 75th minutes), Takuya Akiyama (18th), Kento Nagasaki (38th) and Ryota Nakai (57th) at Jalan Besar Stadium yesterday.

At the Bedok Stadium, Geylang International emerged 2-0 winners over Balestier Khalsa, courtesy of goals from Al-Qaasimy Rahman (26th) and Shawal Anuar (59th).

Lim-Prasad breaks own mark in 400m

National runner Dipna Lim-Prasad, 26, posted a new personal best of 55.45sec when she finished first in the 400m at the QA Carlee Beattie Shield in Queensland yesterday.

Her previous best of 55.59secwas clocked at the San Antonio International Meet in Lisbon last year.

Fellow Singaporean Joy Kuan was seventh in 61.42sec.

Germany, Turkey vie to host Euro 2024

LAUSANNE • Germany and Turkey look set to contest the right to host Euro 2024 after confirming themselves as the only candidates as the deadline for applications passed on Friday.

A joint bid from the four Nordic nations of Denmark, Finland, Sweden and Norway had been prepared but was decided against in the end.
