Albirex Niigata hammered Brunei DPMM 5-0 last night at Jurong East Stadium for an 11th straight win to stride confidently towards a third successive Singapore Premier League football title.

Tampines Rovers beat Young Lions 3-1 at Our Tampines Hub to stay second 14 points back but with two games in hand.


Bowler Owen wins boys' U-18 S'pore title

The Republic's Owen Wong won the boys' Under-18 division at the Singapore International Open at the Singapore Bowling@Rifle Range yesterday.

The 16-year-old, who won the U-15 title at the same tournament last year, continued his winning ways this year with a total of 1,612 pinfalls in eight games.

Malaysia's Aina Kamalia Abdul Ayub won the girls' U-18 title with 1,525 pinfalls. The ongoing qualifiers for the men's and women's Opens will end on Saturday.


Sunwolves brought down to earth in loss

CANBERRA • The ACT Brumbies scored seven tries in a 41-31 Super Rugby win over Japan's Sunwolves in Canberra yesterday.

The bonus-point victory took the Brumbies to 25 points. They are trailing the NSW Waratahs by 10 points in third place in the Australian conference, while it was the 11th loss in 13 games this season for the Sunwolves, who are co-based in Singapore and had won their last two matches.

DeChambeau the one to beat at Memorial

DUBLIN (Ohio) • Bryson DeChambeau birdied four of his last six holes to surge to a one-shot lead over three others on Saturday, going into the final round of the Memorial tournament.

DeChambeau, 24, signed for a bogey-free 66 to move to 14-under 202 as the American golfer looks to secure a second PGA Tour victory after capturing last year's John Deere Classic.
