Singapore fencers putting on a demonstration during the opening ceremony of the Singapore Youth Olympic Festival (SYOF) yesterday at the OCBC Arena. The annual multi-sport festival began yesterday and will feature competitions in 12 sports until Aug 13. This year's celebration will see the addition of beach volleyball and cycling. Last year's event saw a record high of 2,809 participants, and the organisers are expecting similar numbers this year. Of the 12 sports, four - basketball, badminton, football and volleyball - will be held in conjunction with ActiveSG's GetActive! Singapore week to celebrate National Day.
