S'pore defeat Egypt, face South Korea in q-finals today

Days after defeat in the singles quarter-finals by Japan's Ai Fukuhara, Feng Tianwei (above) led the Singapore women's table tennis team to an opening 3-0 victory against Egypt.

Playing the second singles of the tie, she beat Nadeen El-Dawlatly 11-4, 9-11, 11-5, 11-4. Yu Mengyu took the first match against Dina Meshref 11-3, 11-6, 11-6, before teaming up with Zhou Yihan to win the doubles match against Yousra Helmy and El-Dawlatly 11-7, 11-6, 11-4.

They earn a quarter-final berth against familiar foes South Korea, who edged out Romania 3-2, today.
