SPH Schools Relay Championships: Registration opens tomorrow

The Singapore Press Holdings Schools Relay Championships 2013 will open for registration tomorrow (Feb 8).

To be held at the Bukit Gombak Stadium on March 16-17, the annual competition features 24 races and is open to all schools and institutions here.

It comprises four types of relays - 4x100m, 4x200m, 4x400m and 4x800m - and will feature boys and girls in the A Division (17-19 years), B Division (15-16 years) and C Division (13-14 years).

Last year, the Singapore Sports School won the SPH Overall Challenge Trophy by topping the Boys' C Division and finishing second in the Girls' B and C Divisions. Its girls' C Division 4x100m quartet also won the Tay Cheng Khoon Memorial Trophy, awarded to the best-performing team, when they set a new meet record of 50.16 seconds.

Said Ginney Lim, SPH's general counsel and executive vice-president of corporate communications and CSR: "The SPH Schools Relay Championships has a rich history of 21 years.

"This year's edition is significant as it will be a platform to short-list prospective athletes to represent Singapore at the upcoming 2013 SEA Games in Myanmar."

Entry forms for the SPH Schools Relay Championships are available on the Singapore Athletic Association website at www.singaporeathletics.org.sg from Feb 8. Registration closes on March 1.
