Joseph Schooling ended his amateur career with a whimper last month, failing to win a single medal at his final National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Swimming and Diving Championships.

The 22-year-old Singapore swim star has struggled for form since he won the Republic's first Olympic gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics, but England's Commonwealth Games 50m freestyle champion Ben Proud is certain that Schooling is no spent force.
