S'pore's SEA Games-bound team to get polio vaccinations after 'increased' incidents of disease in the Philippines

SINGAPORE - With only a week to the Nov 30-Dec 11 SEA Games in the Philippines, some 1,000 athletes and officials have had to get polio vaccinations after they received a travel advisory from the Team Singapore Chief Medical Officer on Thursday (Nov 21) advising them to get their vaccinations before travelling to the country.

Despite the short notice, athletes and officials whom The Straits Times spoke to on Saturday took the news in their stride, though some expressed concerns about possible side effects.
