Singapore to host Hong Kong and Chinese Taipei in Asian Tri Nations rugby tournament

The Asian Tri Nations rugby tournament will return to Singapore this month when Hong Kong and Chinese Taipei play test matches against the national team.

This marks a return of the competition, 14 years after its inaugural edition in 1999.

The Singapore Reds, ranked 58th in the world, will play Hong Kong's development team on Aug 18 and face Chinese Taipei (ranked 56th in the world) on Aug 24 at Yio Chu Kang Stadium. A victory for the hosts on Aug 24 will see Singapore leapfrogging Chinese Taipei and the Philippines in the table into 56th place.

Singapore Rugby Union (SRU) president Low Teo Ping said: "These are exciting times for the rugby community in Singapore. It would be a real treat for local fans to cheer their team to victory on home ground."
