Singapore Table Tennis Association scores sponsorship and donation worth $500,000

The Singapore Table Tennis Association (STTA) has renewed a sponsorship deal with Singapore-based property investment company Grace Shine, a three-year partnership worth $300,000.

The company is headed by Indonesian tycoon Tahir (who goes by a single name), after he first pledged $100,000 last year to support the association. The new partnership will begin in December.

Tahir, who founded and is the executive chairman of Indonesia-based conglomerate Mayapada Group, also roped in two friends - Radius Wibowo, vice-chairman of Kadin Indonesia, and Cahyadi Kumala, founder of Art Retreat - to donate $100,000 each.

The money will go towards the STTA's sports excellence plans.

Said STTA president Lee Bee Wah: "The STTA is very happy to have Grace Shine on board for another three years and we thank Grace Shine for the vote of confidence. Hopefully, we can extend that partnership beyond 2016."
