SINGAPORE - National fencer Lau Ywen finished runner-up at the European Cadet Circuit event in Meylan, France on Saturday (Oct 15).

She lost 10-15 to German fencer Lisa Gette in the final round of the women's sabre cadet competition, which featured a total of 105 fencers.

It was the 16-year-old Singaporean's second medal in as many weeks, having won the competition's previous leg in Hungary last week.

Ywen, a United World College of South East Asia Year 10 student, is currently the world cadet (Under-17) champion.
