SINGAPORE – A day after losing their opening match at the Paris Olympics, Singapore’s badminton mixed doubles players Terry Hee and Jessica Tan suffered their second defeat at the Porte de la Chapelle Arena on July 28.

Up against China’s world no. 2 pair Feng Yanzhe and Huang Dongping, the 17th-ranked Singaporean duo could not overcome their rivals, losing 21-13, 21-17.

The Commonwealth Games champions were on the backfoot after losing their Group D match to Malaysians Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei a day earlier, and needed to win the next two to stand a chance of qualifying for the quarter-finals.

Those hopes are gone now and they will play their remaining group fixture against United States’ Vinson Chiu and Jennie Gai on July 29.

Teammate and former world champion Loh Kean Yew will play his Group M opener against the Czech Republic’s Jan Louda on the same day.
