CLARK - Some of the smiles were genuine, others half-hearted, but there was no mistaking the wistful glances that Singapore's water polo players gave the winners on top of the podium at the victory ceremony on Sunday night (Dec 1) at the New Clark City Aquatic Centre.

Indonesia were the newly minted champions of South-east Asia, while Singapore headed home yesterday with the bronze medal after failing to retain the title that they had won 27 times since the sport made its debut in 1965.
