SINGAPORE'S paddlers produced a dominant performance to clinch SEA Games golds in both the men's and women's team events in Naypyidaw on Thursday.

Comprising Zhan Jian, Li Hu and Chen Feng, the men's team swept aside Thailand 3-0 in the final.

It was a similar story in the women's event, with Yu Mengyu, Lin Ye and Zhou Yihan proving too strong for their Thai opposition and prevailing by the same margin.

"It was not as easy as it seemed," said Singapore Table Tennis Association president Lee Bee Wah, who was cheering for the teams at the Wunna Theikdi Indoor Stadium.

"Other Asean countries are making lots of improvement. While we are happy with the golds, we cannot be complacent and not make progress ourselves."

The individual events will begin on Friday, with Zhan, Clarence Chew, Yu and Isabelle Li set for action. Singapore are hoping to sweep all four titles.
