SINGAPORE - Singapore's optimist sailors had to settle for a SEA Games silver in the team event on Sunday afternoon, after they lost 2-0 to Malaysia in a best-of-three match race final.
The home team was skippered by James Koh, and was also made up of Koh Yi Nian, Jodie Lai, Muhammad Daniel Kei Yazid and Daniel Ian Toh.
Singapore earned a place in the final after winning all three round-robin matches, including against reigning world champions Thailand.
Thailand had lost their round-robin match against the Malaysians, and settled for bronze after beating Myanmar 2-0 in the bronze match race.
The sailors will continue competing in the individual races, with other athletes also in the midst of the regatta in other classes.
These include the men's Laser Standard, women's Laser Radial, Under-19 Laser Radial classes and RS:X windsurfing events.
