SINGAPORE - Singapore Athletics (SA) has expressed contrition after it was the target of stern criticism over the state of the local sport, which resulted in a dismal performance at the recent SEA Games in the Philippines.

In a media statement late on Thursday (Dec 12), SA president Tang Weng Fei said: "Richard's remarks are factual. This is a wake-up call to all stakeholders of athletics in Singapore to stop all distractions other than promoting our beloved sport.
