Teck Whye Secondary edged out Crescent Girls School 2-1 on penalty flicks to clinch the Schools National C Division girls' hockey title at the Seng Kang Hockey Stadium on Thursday afternoon.
The tightly-contested final finished 1-1 after extra time. Nursyafiqah Aliyah had put Teck Whye ahead in the second half but, with a minute of regular time left, Crescent's Rachel Chua fired in the equaliser from just outside the penalty line to send the match into extra time.
However, Teck Whye eventually won on penalty flicks to win their first title since 2010.
Said their captain, Sofie Dianie: "It's satisfying to bring back the championships to our school. It really showed our fighting spirit."
Their teacher-in-charge, Mdm Idayu Somdi, praised her girls too. She said: "I'm proud of them. Most of the team also take part in the floorball competition, so they are very strong to play the match and win it."
