School sports: St Hilda's B Division boys continue reign in volleyball

ST. HILDA's boys have done it again - the defending champions easily beat Catholic High School (CHS) 3-1 (25-9, 22-25, 25-14, 25-11) at the Woodlands Sports Hall to clinch their 14th Schools National B Division volleyball championship since 1996.

There was a bit of a surprise on the girls' side however, as Dunman Secondary stunned defending champions Ngee Ann Secondary 2-1 (25-19, 21-25, 25-17) to bag only their second B girls' title.

St Hilda's captain Dennis Lim credited the team's outstanding performance to their daily training sessions.

"The feeling of winning is wonderful. This is my last year playing for the school, and I'm happy our efforts paid off," he said.

The champions were also grateful to their coach Teo Siew Lan, with vice-captain Ajay Singh Shergill saying: "Ms Teo didn't just teach us volleyball, she taught us character as well. If we had a poor attitude, such as being lazy in training, she would not let us train unless we corrected ourselves."
