School Sports: RI's Brian See clinches 10th consecutive throwing title

The fifth day of the 55th National Inter-School Track and Field Championships saw Raffles Institution's (RI) Brian See win the A Division Boys shot put title with a throw of 16.51m to make it 10 consecutive throwing titles in five years.

Having already clinched his fifth consecutive inter-school discus title on Monday, the 18-year-old, who stands at 1.85m and weighs 85kg, repeated the feat in the shot put event on Wednesday morning at Choa Chu Kang Stadium.

Brian also bettered his previous personal best of 15.27m in the process.

His previous eight titles at school level were achieved over the past four years, winning double gold in the shot put and discus events in the C division once (2010), B division twice (2011 and 2012) and A division once (2013).

Hwa Chong Institution's (HCI) Caleb Hoe (15.85m) and Kendrick Sinatra Hardy (13.93m) finished second and third respectively after Brian.

In other A Division field events that took place on Wednesday morning, Dunman High School's Shaun Moh won the boys long jump event with a 6.84m effort while HCI's Genis Phoa Jie was the top girl in javelin with a 36.42m throw.
