METHODIST Girls' School continued their dominance in the Schools National B Division girls' tennis championships, clinching their fourth straight title with a 4-1 victory over rivals Raffles Girls School on Wednesday at the Kallang Tennis Centre.

They proved supreme in the singles' match-ups, winning all three ties to secure the series win.

Ruhi Kamdar beat Ng Qin Yi (6-0, 6-3), Felicia Thng thrashed Dominique Oh (6-0, 6-0), while Joanne Koh edged out Izabella Tan after the latter withdrew with cramps (4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 1-0).

Said Ruhi, who had lost to Qin Yi when they last met in the ITF World Junior Tennis trials: "I'm really happy (that we won), because we brought glory to the school."

RGS captain Clarisse Gan and vice-captain Yurie Koey secured their solitary point by winning their doubles tie 6-7 (2-7), 6-1, 6-3 against MGS captain Rebecca Loy and Deborah Theng.

"I think we played better after losing the first set," said Clarisse, who suffered cramps midway through the tie. "We felt that we had nothing to lose, and had more winners after that."

MGS' doubles pair Genevieve Ang and Daryl Wang won their fourth point after defeating Chen Roubing and Bek Schin 6-0, 6-1.
