Singapore are on course to retain their three titles at the Optimist World Championships in Lake Garda, Italy, after winning the team event.
The Republic came from behind to beat Italy 2-1 in the final, ensuring a podium finish in the event for the eighth year running. It is also Singapore's third consecutive team title in the sailing class for those aged 15 and under.
Singapore's team of five - 14-year-olds Edward Tan, Koh Yi Kun and Fathin Rasyiqin Mohd Firdaus, and 15-year-olds Loh Jia Yi and Bertha Han - had emerged victorious from a field of 48 teams, the biggest field in the 47-year history of the regatta.
The sailors will enjoy a rest day on Monday before resuming races in the individual category.
