Sailing: Seiko signs up as official timekeeper for SingaporeSailing

The Singapore Sailing Federation have signed on watchmaker Seiko as its official timekeeper. The partnership was announced at a media event held at the Marina Bay City Gallery on Friday.

The partnership will see both sides through to next June's SEA Games, and will see Seiko provide support in both cash and in kind to the association, with the help going towards SingaporeSailing's developmental programmes.

Sailors Bernie Chin, Samantha Yom and windsurfer Ynez Lim - athletes who will fly Singapore's flag at the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing this month - were also presented with limited edition timepieces at the event.

Said Wilfred Koh, general manager of Thong Sia, Seiko's distributor in Singapore: "We are excited about this opportunity to get behind our athletes and support them in their bid for sporting glory. As an organisation, Thong Sia understands the challenges they face in their training and competitions and their sacrifices before they can step up on the podium."
