SINGAPOREAN schoolboy sailor Ryan Teo, 14, has won the individual crown of the Optimist Asian Championships in Hayama, Japan on Thursday.

The Victoria School student, who is the reigning European champion, beat 104 others from 14 participating nations to claim top spot.

His compatriots Bertha Han, Edward Tan, Samuel Neo, and world champion Loh Jia Yi, finished after Ryan in the respective order, making it an all-Singaporean top-five finish.

This result follows Singapore's one-two finish in the team event earlier in the week, cementing the nation's dominance in world Optimist sailing.
