Singapore's Griselda Khng and Sara Tan claimed an impressive silver medal at the 49er FX Youth World Championships in Gdynia, Poland on Sunday.
Making their debut in this event, the female duo garnered 23 points across nine races, finishing 17 clear of Spain's Maria Cantero Izquierdo and Ana Hernandez Moreno in third place.
Gold went to Finland's Norra Ruskola and Camilla Cedercreutz, who recorded 15 points in the 12-team competition. The 49er FX is a double-handed skiff introduced for the Rio 2016 Olympics.
Singapore Sailing Federation vice-president Rupert Ong said: "It is good to see our sailors progressing along the Olympic pathway. It takes time and effort to do well in the Olympic classes and their performance at these championships bodes well for their Olympic ambitions."
