Rugby: St Andrew's beat ACS Independent 14-13 to win Goh Keng Swee Shield

St Andrew's Secondary School won the Schools National C Division rugby championship on Thursday, beating Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) 14-13 at the Yio Chu Kang Stadium.

It is the first time the Saints have lifted the Goh Keng Swee Shield in 23 years. ACS(I), on the other hand, have won it 16 times in the past 21 years.

Despite romping to a 14-0 lead within 20 minutes, SAS were made to sweat for their victory when ACS (I) crept to within a point of their lead with 15 minutes to go.

Said ACS (I) coach Adrian Chong: "It's not easy for boys at this age to fight back. We are very proud of how they fought."
