Two of the favourites at this year's Singapore Airlines (SIA) International Cup and KrisFlyer International Sprint drew favourable barriers during the Post Position Draw on Thursday afternoon.

In the $3 million SIA Cup to be raced at Kranji this Sunday, the 2013 champion and Hong Kong-based Military Attack will start in barrier 3 for the 2,000m race, much to the delight of its trainer Caspar Fownes. But things are seemingly uphill for defending champion Dan Excel as it drew barrier 10.

Lucky Nine, which won the previous two editions of the $1 million KrisFlyer International Sprint, will start the 1,200m battle in barrier 2. It is bidding to be the first horse to win in three consecutive years.

The full draw for the SIA Cup are: Barrier 1 - Smoking Sun, 2 - Free Port Lux, 3 - Military Attack, 4 - Johnny Guitar, 5 - Slew of Lode, 6 - Cooptado, 7 - Quechua, 8 - Meiner Frost, 9 - Stepitup, 10- Dan Excel, 11 - Wild Geese

The full draw for the Krisflyer International Sprint: 1 - Emperor Max, 2 - Lucky Nine, 3 - Aerovelocity, 4 - Kiwi Karma, 5 - Zac Spirit, 6 - Rich Tapestry, 7 - Hototo, 8 - Magneto, 9 - El Padrino
