Olympics: Singapore rower Saiyidah Aisyah finishes 6th in q-finals, does not make semis

RIO DE JANEIRO - National rower Saiyidah Aisyah finished sixth in her women's single sculls quarter-final on Tuesday morning (Aug 9) at the Rio Olympics.

The 28-year-old clocked a time of 7min 56sec in the six-crew race at the Lagoa Stadium near Copacabana. At the halfway mark, she was still in fourth place.

New Zealand's Emma Twig was first in 7:31.79 ahead of Czech Miroslava Knapkova (7:37.04) and Mexico's Kenia Lechuga (7:44.11).

Only the top three advance to the semi-finals.

Saiyidah is Singapore's first Olympic rower. She will now compete in the repechage round to determine a 13th-24th ranking in this event.
