Notre Dame defensive lineman Rylie Mills will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury, head coach Marcus Freeman confirmed Monday.

Mills, a 6-foot-5, 295-pound senior, sustained the injury during Friday's 27-17 win against Indiana in the first round of the College Football Playoff in South Bend, Ind.

The No. 7 Fighting Irish (12-1) are preparing to face No. 2 Georgia (11-2) in the quarterfinals at the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans on New Year's Day.

Mills hurt his right knee while recording a sack in the third quarter against the Hoosiers. He leads the Fighting Irish with 7.5 sacks in 13 games this season. He also has 37 tackles, including 8.5 for loss.

Mills has tallied 17 sacks, 131 tackles and two fumble recoveries in 62 games since making his Notre Dame debut in 2020.
